‘Teen Titans Academy #3’ (review)

Written by Tim Sheridan
Art by Rafa Sandoval
Published by DC Comics

Man, this series is quite the stinker.

We are only three issues in and I have literally no interest in any of it. The characters are bad and the action is just dull.

I can’t see how this is actually going to continue on as a monthly series.

This issue continues a crossover with the Suicide Squad.

Hey, I get it. They can’t make this book stand on it’s own two feet so they need more popular guest stars.

The problem is the creative team doesn’t really have a feel for them either and it shows.

We get to watch these Teen Titans on the run.

Since I don’t care about any of them, the stakes were extremely low. There is a problem too but the whole thing is paced pretty slow. There are some character moments that don’t really matter.

But we head back to Titans Island!

We see that the mysterious Red X is in charge of the Suicide Squad! What has Amanda Waller done? What are the ramifications from all of this going to be? Does anyone really care or we just going through the motions?

The script by Tim Sheridan certainly feels like we are doing just that: going through the motions. It is painful. The art is the only redeeming quality. Hopefully, Rafa Sandoval will find another book. He is a quality artist and deserves more than this.

RATING: D
