‘Superman and the Authority #1’ (review)

Written by Grant Morrison
Art by Mikel Janin
Published by DC Comics

Any time that Grant Morrison writes a book, it is a call for celebration. This book is no different and it looks to be the beginning of something really fun and exciting. I was hooked from the very first page and I just loved where this went.

The first few pages of the book show Superman meeting up with President John F. Kennedy on that fateful November day in 1963. The conversation that they have is very foreboding and it is a great opening. We all know what happens to JFK then.

This opening scene sets everything in motion from this point on.

Superman meets up with Manchester Black to try to put together a team to take care of things on the sly.

There is a lot of things that happen and then we are off to the races.

The Ultra Humanite is the villain here and we get to see him form his own team to fight against Superman’s. It really is a lot of fun to watch both of these teams form. It is even better when the two of them come up against each other!

Morrison writes a fun script that is a nice take on the mythos. He shows us some weird things but mostly it is just crazy fun. Mikel Janin does an amazing job drawing this story. The two work well together.

This is going to be an amazing series. This issue is great.

RATING: A
