This has got to be one of the most punishing storylines I have ever read in a Superman title. I’ve been having a hard time following this because I just don’t care about what it going on. Maybe this will all makes sense sometime.
Right now? I feel lost in a sea of nonsense.
The art has been great however. Brandon Perterson and Ivan Reis are both perfect and both born to draw the Man of Steel. I just wish the story was stronger for these guys to showcase their art.
We start off with seeing Superman’s parents on Krypton talking about a plan.
They have a young baby there as well. (Guess who?) this is supposed to set the entire plot of the issue in motion. Instead it kind of feels like a weight around our necks at this point.
We get to see the traditional storyline of Jor-El telling everyone that Krypton is in trouble.
We see some Thangarians show up. Jor-El races against time. Rogol Zaar is involved! In the end though?
Guess what happens? That’s right everyone. Krypton blows up.
We then flashback to present day. Jor-El finishes his story. That’s pretty much it.
There is a cool scene at the end where Lois Lane gets an offer from Lex Luthor. That’s about the most intriguing part of the issue. But there is a bright spot! The Unity Saga is looking to be over by next issue. That’s a blessing.
This has gone on for way too long and I’ve been ready for awhile to move on from this already.
