This series is definitely a step up from the previous Suicide Squad series. While there definitely have been better stories that have come before this, Taylor and Redondo have created a pretty fun story here and it is definitely worth reading.
The opening scene has Deadshot in the middle of a mission. He is saying that the team had been ambushed. It is a tense scene and it really gets things cooking.
Somebody asks if the President will make it?
That is when we see the President on the ground shot dead.
All Deadshot can say is, “I doubt it.”
A whole bunch of chaos follows. Things go to hell pretty quickly. It then seems like a bunch more of the Suicide Squad are sent on their way to help Deadshot out.
Things then intensify quite quickly from there. It’s pretty awesome.
The team lands at their destination. But literally right away, a huge conflict erupts. The battle is expertly drawn by Redondo.
There is a brutal, bloody and extremely crazy scene that happens with King Shark and Fin that has to be seen to be believed. And then things escalate from that point on as well.
By the end of the issue, the team has accomplished their goal. There is also a teaser for upcoming stories. I love that Taylor and Redondo tell a thrilling and complete story in 22 pages.
It is a feat these days and they do great in this issue. Not a bad series thus far.
