‘Spider-Man: The Spider’s Shadow #5’ (review)

Written by Chip Zdarsky
Art by Pasqual Ferry
Published by Marvel Comics

This has been another great Spider-Man book that has been written by Chip Zdarsky. It is an inventive take on the Spider-Man mythos that never seems to let up on the twists and the action. I have loved every part of this and it just keeps getting better and better.

The whole concept behind the series is, “What if Peter Parker became Venom?” From there, this whole series unspools in amazing fashion. We get to see the symbiote take over Peter and essentially ruining his life.

Peter has managed to get himself under control. The Fantastic Four and Mary Jane have helped him achieve this and he is trying to figure a way out of his present circumstances.

But the symbiote isn’t prepared to go down without a fight.

The symbiote decides to take the fight up against the entire Marvel Universe! It turns into one hell of a sprawling fight. It all leads to one hell of an ending that was quite powerful.

Chip Zdarsky always writes an interesting script and this definitely is awesome. The art by Pasqual Ferry is the best he has done.

Overall, this is pretty great and I really enjoyed where this book went overall.

RATING: A
