‘Red Room #3’ (review)

Written and Illustrated by Ed Piskor
Published by Fantagraphics

This book really is something special.

Every issue does indeed stand by itself but does form a bigger story as well. You can read every issue and it is self contained. It is just that the bigger picture of it all is really worth looking at.

This issue focuses on Levee Turks.

We get to see a lot of background information on him. Piskor packs a lot of story into each page of this so we actually get a complete character that is well developed with Turks.

Turks was an encryption software prodigy who got arrested. He is now serving a life sentence for creating an online drug empire.

But then the FBI came to him with a deal.

The deal is to help the FBI track down of the darker corners of the web.

It starts off very interesting then it takes some wild turns. Turks eventually may find himself in one of the Red Rooms. He might even meet a dark fate by the end of the issue. It is horrific what happens but extremely well done.

Piskor has really changed things up for himself with this series. Both the writing and the artwork are amazing, truly great.

I have no idea where he is going with this series but I am in for the long haul. It’s pretty fantastic.

RATING: A
