Check out what I checked out this week.
Whether the comics are inspiring or disappointing, I read them all.
Welcome to The Pull List.
And, as always…Spoilers ahead!
Writer: Dan Slott
Art: Humberto Ramos & Carlos Cuevas
Color: Edgar Delgado
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Price: $2.99
The situation on Spider-Island goes from bad to worse as Peter is trying to help find a cure for the spider virus and keep tabs on Carlie while the Avengers keep the large amount of people who want spider abilities out of the infected area.
Reed Richards makes a horrifying discovery regarding the evolution of the virus that may be unstoppable and incurable. The art work was fantastic and Slott’s script made this third chapter of Spider-Island one you don’t want to miss.

Fear Itself: Hulk vs. Dracula (1 of 3)
Writer: Victor Gischler
Artist: Ryan Stegman
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Price: $2.99
Hulk has landed in Romania via the Mjollnir express by Thor in Fear Itself #5.
He is looking to get back to his destination and is going to destroy everything in his path, including vampires, along the way.
Dracula takes notice of this and puts a plan into action. A former Dracula associate arrives to offer their assistance but Dracula refuses without giving it a second thought. The count puts his plan into action and unleashes a multitude of monstrous threats to deal with the green menace.
This story has no effect on the main story going in Fear Itself. I had no problem with the art work and the story wet my palate to read the next issue because we know at some point Dracula is going to get his hands dirty.

Red Lanterns #1
Writer: Peter Milligan
Art: Ed Benes
Publisher: DC Comics
Price $2.99
This issue could be titled “How Atrocitus got his groove back”
The master of rage is having a hard time finding his center.
He believes his leadership is in question and can’t seem to get over Hal Jordan denying him the chance to kill Krona.
Through a series of events, Atrocitus regains his rage but now wonders if another member of the Red Lanterns is now in charge. Milligan’s writing makes this issue easy and fun to follow if you are not familiar with the Red Lanterns’ story. Ed Benes produced the best art work of the week. Yes, I know the art is mostly red. However, the primary color is done in such a vibrant way that captures the emotion of the Red Lanterns harness: rage.

Disney’s Duck Tales #4
Writer: Warren Spector
Artist: Jose Massaroli
Color: Braden Lamb
Publisher: Kaboom
Price $3.99
Duck Tales was one of my favorite cartoons as a kid. I never missed an episode. I even have the shows opening theme as a ringtone. While I rarely read comic books based on cartoons, I took the plunge because I was looking for something different this week.
Uncle Scrooge and company are trying to return rare artifacts to their rightful place in the world. The Beagle Boys and Guy Standforth come in to ruin the party. A few bumps in the road hinder Uncle Scrooge from meeting his goal. Realizing he has lost a bet to millionaire Rockerduck, he now has to face the music and eat his hat in front of the entire Duckburg media.
Can this really be happening, or, will Huey, Dewey and Louis uncover some duck shenanigans to save Uncle Scrooge from his unsavory meal?
The artwork and color were reminiscent of the cartoon as I felt I was sitting in front of the TV after a few pages. Children, Disney lovers and Duck Tales fans will love this series. The $3.99 price tag could be a hindrance as titles released the same week such as Fear Itself #6 and Ultimate Spider-Man #1 were released with the same price. Bottom line, this book was fun! You can leave Fear Itself on the rack this week and relive your childhood instead.

Deathstroke #1
Writer: Kyle Higgins
Art: Joe Bennett & Art Thibert
Publisher: DC Comics
Price: $2.99
It’s a simple of story, yet fun.
Slade Wilson is a badass and the best at what he does.
Various clients who render his services are starting to believe he is not as good as he use to be.
One client in particular hires Wilson to obtain secrets being sold by a German scientist. The catch is Wilson has to work with a team to back him up of mercenaries. Slade plays the game for awhile. Then when the times is right he grabs the bull by the horns and screams “Ya’ll Must’ve Forgot” as he reminds everyone around him who Deathstroke really is.
I found Higgins story intriguing because he creates an enviorment where there are people actually dumb enough to doubt Slade Wilson. It’s the ultimate slap in the face. I compare it to watching someone poking an alligator with a stick and you can’t wait to see how the gator is going to strike.
