The actress and comedian died in her sleep.
Phyllis Diller started in radio in 1952 before starting her stand-up career in 1955, making her one of comedy’s first female headliners. The self deprecating comedianne made hundreds of appearances on stage, television and screen in addition to her live comedy act.
Notable achievements include 23 Bob Hope television specials, appeared on Broadway in Hello, Dolly!, recurred on The Gong Show, The Bold and the Beautiful and Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In, guest starred on The Muppet Show, Family Guy, The Drew Carey Show, and The Powerpuff Girls. Her film appearances include Splendor in the Grass , Mad Monster Party, The Sunshine Boys, A Bug’s Life and the documentary, Who Killed The Electric Car?
