‘Nightwing #74’ (review)

Written by Dan Jurgens
Art by Ryan Benjamin
Published by DC Comics

This is another “Joker War” tie-in issue. However, this book has been utterly exciting.

Writer Dan Jurgens does a great job of writing a story and making it damn exciting. This has been a hell of a time watching what has happened to Dick Grayson and the supporting characters in this particular storyline.

The first thing to get out of the way is that Dick Grayson is finally back.

That really is the best thing to come out of this “Joker War” storyline. It has been extremely grating overall and we finally get some relief from ”Ric.”

Dick grabbed the crystal from the Joker’s neck and he is back!

I am not sure how I feel about the crystal being the thing to give him back his memories. But  at this point it could have been a bowl of Fruit Loops that did it and I would have been happy he got his memories back.

Nightwing joins up with some members of the Bat Family to take the fight to the Joker and his gang.

Punchline shows up of course. Nightwing really fights for his life here and it is damn cool. Tim Drake joins the fight here as well. However, he is now called “Drake.” Whoever is naming these former Batman sidekicks needs to be stopped apparently. Have we learned nothing?

Still, this is an action packed issue.

Artist Ryan Benjamin does a commendable job on the art too and the book just looks nice. He also draws the action as cleanly as possible, making it easy to see who is hitting who.

Overall, this is an exciting chapter of the Nightwing saga.

RATING: B+
