The Joker War has spilled over into this book as well as others. It has actually been fairly interesting to see how the creative team here has handled it. This issue is entertaining for sure and plays a major part of the overall story. It is really quite interesting!
The beginning of this issue shows how badly Gotham City is faring in the Joker’s mad campaign. The gangs have overrun the place. On top of all of that, Batgirl has been taken out of commission by Nightwing himself!
That’s right. Nightwing is under the Joker’s dark spell.
A good portion of the issue is dedicated to the destruction of Gotham. It is a bit crazy and out of control. But it is a guilty pleasure for sure and very entertaining.
It was bananas, but I didn’t mind.
By the end of the issue, Nightwing snaps out of it.
He also finally remembers who he is!
This means Dick is back and no more of this “Ric” crap, hopefully. All of this craziness comes into focus by the end of the issue and now it feels like big things are ahead.
The story by Jurgens is great! The artwork by Ryan Benjamin is fantastic as well. Benjamin is always a welcome treat when he is drawing a book and this is really well done.
Hopefully this comic book continues to be exciting like this particularly wild issue.
