Written by David Gallaher, Rob Liefeld
Art by Rob Liefeld, Jack Morelli
Published by Archie Comics
This 20 page one-shot comes from writer and artist Rob Liefeld (who left the project before completion, with the publisher bringing in Gallhaer and Morelli to complete).
I read this and I felt like it was a real shame. It is not because of the quality of this comic, but more that it feels abbreviated and rushed. It barely gets started before it abruptly just ends.
There isn’t a lot to talk about.
The first page shows us an older version of the Shield. Then, we go through some really quick story beats and flashback to the Shield’s past. We get one fight scene and then the book just ends.
I have to be honest; I was totally getting into it.
It feels like a great prologue for a story that will never come to be. Literally, I read this comic book in five minutes. Not much of anything happened here at all.
I don’t know if Liefeld had more plans for this book, but it seems like he did. It is hard to tell.
The whole book goes in one big circle and that’s pretty much it.
Liefeld seems to be having fun at least.
