Oscar nominated Michael Clake Duncan, one of Hollywood’s most likeable actors, passed away from a myocardial infarction which has kept him hospitalized since July 13th.
The 6’5″ Duncan was nominated for Best Supporting actor for 1999’s The Green Mile, portraying John Coffey in director Frank Darabont’s adaptation of the Stephen King novel. In addition, the former bodyguard appeared requently both on screen and on television in such projects as Armageddon, Sin City, Planet of the Apes, The Island, The Whole Nine Yards, Two and a Half Men, Daredevil, The Scorpion King, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and most recently, the Bones-spinoff, The Finder.
Duncan also had an extensive resume doing voiceover work, using his distinctive voice on such projects as Brother Bear, Green Lantern, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, Family Guy, Teen Titans, Racing Stripes and Cars & Dogs.
His last completed film In the Hive, directed by Robert Townsend and co-starring Loretta Devine and Vivica A. Fox, has no scheduled release date.
