‘Lois Lane and the Friendship Challenge’ OGN (review)

This was an unexpectedly excellent book. I have to say, I was quite surprised that I enjoyed it so much.

I should have known. Grace Ellis writes Lumberjanes and that is a pretty decent book. This has a good story with some nice and accessible artwork on each page.

This book start off on the first day of summer in the small town of Liberty View.

Lois and Kristen play a prank outside on the unsuspecting Henri.

Of course, Lois did this prank for her ulterior motive; Lois is ambitious, and will stop at nothing to achieve her goals.

Lois wants to be a hit on something called Vid-me.

She wants to get ten million subscribers and to be a success with Kristen on a sort of “friendship challenge” video.

We learn that there is a big barbecue and bike race at the end of the week. Lois looks at this as a perfect opportunity to make some headway.

Eventually, Lois and Kristen discover that the annual fireworks are missing.

They take it upon themselves to see if they can track down them down. They better hurry up though, as Kristen is leaving at the end of the week to go to sleepaway camp. Meanwhile, the two girls are growing apart pretty quickly.

This is a well done book. The story is quick and enjoyable and even a bit emotional. The art is perfect for this and it is a great fit. I thought this was pretty great. It hit all the right beats effortlessly and perfectly.

RATING: A
