KEY & PEELE Reveal The Darkness That Is Steve Urkel

Most people might have forgotten that Family Matters was a spin off of the sitcom Perfect Strangers. Larry Appleton’s co-worker Harriette Winslow (JoMarie Payton) and her relationships at home with her husband Carl (Reginald VelJohnson) and family were the initial focus of the show.

Until the twelfth episode of the first season brought a one time appearance from a nerdy young boy who took Harriette’s daughter Laura out on a date.

His name was Steve Urkel.

Portrayed by Jaleel White, Urkel became the breakout character of the series, transforming it from a family comedy to a mismatched buddy comedy with Urkel and Carl often taking center stage.

But was there something far more diabolical going on?

Key & Peel seem to think so.
