John Constantine Is back just how I like him.
Nasty, dark, and fun. It has been a long time since we have had anyone even close to resembling the real John Constantine in the comics, or what I consider the “real one.” It is a welcome feeling.
The issue starts off with a man named Noah.
Noah, late at night, sees a mysterious girl walk by. It starts happening each night. He is naturally curious to see who she is. What he finds is something more than he could have bargained for.
This story leads us into meeting new characters who all ultimately cross paths with the girl. They all share a similar fate too, when they meet her that is completely horrifying.
I love how Spurrier interlocked all these characters here.
Eventually, John Constantine comes into the mix.
John and Noah eventually team up to stop this horrible creature. The ending of this is pretty great. It is even better because it is a completely self contained story.
This is Spurrier’s best story that he has written for John Constantine.
It felt like Jamie Delano was writing the book again, it was that good. The art by Aaron Campbell is equally impressive. They really hit all the right notes with this story.
