Jim Gordon-Centric Series ‘GOTHAM’ Announced

Deadline reports that Gotham is headed to the small screen from Warner Bros. TV and The Mentalist creator Bruno Heller.  With a series commitment already in hand, the Fox series will focus on, “the origin stories of Commissioner James Gordon and the villains who made Gotham City famous. In Gotham, Gordon is still a detective with the Gotham City Police Department and has yet to meet Batman, who will not be part of the series.”

A surprising departure for this series is that it’s not part of the CW-DC series Arrow and next season’s The Flash.

Gordon has been part of the Batman universe since the character’s first appearance in Detective #27 from 1939 from Bill Finger and Bob Kane.

I personally was hoping to see Bryan Cranston (who voiced Gordon in the animated direct-to-video Batman: Year One) reprise the role for the upcoming Affleck reboot.  Who would you like to see portray him in the series?
