IRON MAN 3 Attaches It’s First Potential Director

Shane Black and Downey

According to Heat Vision, Shane Black has met with Marvel Studios to discuss his take on the third Iron Man film to direct and possibly write.

It would be a nice reunion for Black with star Robert Downey, Jr. who previously worked together on Black’s directorial debut, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, which resurrected Downey’s career in 2005.

The film, which is scheduled for a May 3, 2013 release would reassemble a cast presumably with Downey, Gwyneth Paltrow, Clark Gregg, Samuel L. Jackson, Don Cheadle and possibly Jon Favreau, who directed the first two films in the franchise.

Black, infamous for being one of the first superstar screenwriters of the 1980s and 1990s, previously wrote Lethal Weapon, The Last Boy Scout, A Long Kiss Goodnight and The Monster Squad.

I’m starting to wonder if Iron Man 3 will be a buddy picture with Downey and Cheadle.

Lethal Weapons?
