I am usually not that big of a fan of Harley Quinn. Yet, DC has been putting out some really unique titles with her in it. This one here turned out to be pretty decent as well. It has Mark Russell writing it. He has fast become one of the more unique writers in comics. And I am not usually a fan of artist Mike Norton, but he does a commendable job here on the art duties.
Harley Quinn decides to host an event called “Villainy’s Biggest Night.” She decides to bring some of the biggest villains in the DC Universe together to the Hall Of Doom.
It is a big event. And it is super hilarious. Harley Quinn hosts. There are a bunch of awards to be given out.
It is a villain kind of version of the Oscars.
Harley Quinn even has a monologue she does. There is a hilarious “In Memoriam” section.
A villain called the Flamingo appears. He is tired of being overlooked all of these years. Now he is about to enact upon a plan to sabotage these awards and become a villain of note.
The creative team takes this wacky premise and just run away with it. Watching Harley Quinn trying to host the awards show is comedy at it’s finest. Harley and the Flamingo start getting closer and closer to the inevitable showdown. It is fast and funny throughout.
The biggest question of the whole thing is “Who is going to be crowned the Villain of the Year? The answer is hardly surprising but it is a lot of fun getting to that moment.
I really like the art by Mike Norton here. It is expressive and fluid but not overly cartoonish. This is some of his best work. I loved this very much. It was a pretty decent and unexpectedly fun read.
