Written by Julia and Shawna Benson
Illustrated by Javier Fernandez
Published by DC Comics
Julia and Shawna Benson have taken over the writing duties for this title and it’s a much better fit than their previous work. I love the way they handle the Oliver Queen character. It’s well done as they give us the version I grew up with. I like that version the best.
Green Arrow has got a target on his back.
It’s a position that he is not used to. As this issue begins, the second part of the “Citizens Arrest” storyline, Green Arrow is in a high speed car chase. It’s exciting and well drawn by Fernandez. The people in the car are just regular people who think Queen is a killer.
This is all because of the local social justice costumed warrior named Citizen.
Citizen is all over the news showing how Oliver is a killer and how he’s a menace on the loose. This sends everyone into a spin as they want to take Queen out.
So the issue is basically Oliver trying to save the population from this vigilante while also dodging attacks from the locals! Eventually, he does come face to face with Citizen. That scene in particular is harrowing and is the best part of the issue. The illustrations by Fernandez in that scene is particularly powerful.
This issue ends on a cliffhanger too. One of DC’s biggest characters comes to talk to Oliver. It looks to be one hell of a next issue because of it.
The story is very good and the art is spectacular. This is a nice turn of events on this title and in the Benson’s career. Hopefully they can keep up the incredible momentum.
