‘Future State: Kara Zor-El, Superwoman #2’ (review)

Written by Marguerite Bennett
Art by Marguerite Sauvage
Published by DC Comics

This book is a bit simplistic but it it not a bad thing. It is entertaining and fun but doesn’t go much beyond that. And that’s okay by me. The first issue was decent and this one was pretty good as well.

The moon colony surrounding Superwoman’s Fortress of Solitude is under attack. That is where the issue starts off. We get to see Superwoman going against some really strange creatures!

I have to say, the creatures are well designed by Sauvage and the opening scene is well done. I was at the edge of my seat.

Then a big explosion happens.

The rest of the book becomes sort of surreal after that.

She learns a bit about the shape shifting aliens that she is fighting against.

We learn what they want.

Kara Zor-el is faced with a choice at this point to stop these aliens. Should she?

This book has a very different ending, I have to say. I wasn’t expecting the story to go in the direction it does.

It is a bit strange but I liked it very much. Had there been another artist on the book, it would not have worked. But it totally does here.

Marguerite Sauvage really is an amazing talent. She takes the script and does amazing things with it. Bennett writes a brave script too and honestly this turns out great by the end.

Worth reading.

RATING: A-
