‘Future State: Harley Quinn #2’ (review)

Written by Stephanie Phillips
Art by Simone Dimeo, Toni Infante
Published by DC Comics

The first issue of this series was actually completely awesome.

Writer Stephanie Phillips has taken Harley Quinn and put a new fresh coat of paint on the character.

This issue is pretty great as well and finishes up this series in a quite a cool fashion.

The opening of this second issue has Harley doing a bit of investigating. While she is conducting this investigation however, she is also trying to gain Jonathan Crane’s trust. She has a a bigger plan in place and it is one that is pretty intricate.

The first part of this issue is about setting all of those dominoes up.

So, we get to see a bit of that.

Once Harley starts, they all start coming down in spectacular fashion. The second half of the book shows us the results of all this.

Crane gets pushed a step closer to his Scarecrow identity. This means that Harley has to go up against him. She also has to go up against the Black Mask Gang. If she survive then both there is also the Magistrate to contend with.

How does she get out of all of this?

So, this issue is pretty great too. Phillips writes a nice script and the art is pretty good as well. It wraps up a bit too quickly for me, as I feel like there is so much that could have been explored.

Who knows? Maybe in the future.

RATING: A
