While everyone is going crazy (rightfully so) about the “Next Batman” title, I have to draw attention to this title which is equally good.
This comic boasts a strong creative team and some fresh concepts. I love what is happening in this book and this issue is pretty freaking great, too.
The beginning of this issue has Batman going about the city.
He is looking to find a way to put an end to the Magistrate (as Batman does). We get to see him reorganizing his thoughts and putting a solid plan into place.
All of that comes to a halt when he comes face to face with the Next Batman!
That was the only sad thing about the issue. The two of them talk but don’t really get into it. That’s okay though, as the rest of the issue is pretty compelling. We get to see where the series is headed and the end of the issue is a hell of a cliffhanger!
The main story is great.
Mariko Tamaki writes a great Batman, and it is a pretty damn fun script. And what more can I say about artist Dan Mora? He is great and does a superb job on this book, giving us one of the most dynamic Batman books in years. It is pretty excellent.
The backup story features Grifter and it is decent enough. Matthew Rosenberg writes a pretty good script and the art by Carmine Di Giandomenico is good as well.
Overall, this is another solid entry into the Future State line of books.
