‘Future State: Dark Detective #2’ (review)

Written by Mariko Tamaki, Joshua Williamson
Art by Dan Mora, Giannis Milonogiannis
Published by DC Comics

The first issue of this series was a hell of a lot of fun!

It was great to see a really different version of Bruce Wayne.

Writer Mariko Tamaki seemed an odd fit at first for this title but honestly, she does a great job writing this. This issue is good too, and it is a hell of a lot of fun.

This issue starts off in the Gotham Port Authority Shipyard. A crime is taking place!

We get to see a bit of the setup. Then, who comes to stop this crime?

Why none other than Bruce Wayne!

It is an exciting opening   that really got my blood pumping.

Bruce nearly gets killed and jumps into the water. There he is confronted with a vision. This scene is a bit horrifying and chilling.

He does make it out of the water and heads on his way to regroup. This is when things get really interesting.

Watching Bruce regroup takes up a good chunk of the issue. But it is never boring. We get to see him at his new makeshift “Batcave” and everything that goes along with that. It isn’t long though before Bruce leaps back into action. It is quite thrilling.

I love what the creative team is doing here. Tamaki is doing a great job again writing this but I also have to praise artist Dan Mora. He does one of the best jobs in recent memory making Batman and the world he is in unique. His art is simply gorgeous.

This is a damn fine book and I cannot get enough.

RATING: A
