They hired writer Mark Russell and artist Steve Pugh to do a Future State title!
I could not be more excited. The creative team has done wonderful work in the past and I am happy to report that they do so yet again here.
This is a well done issue and I loved it from start to finish.
The beginning of the issue shows us that this series takes place in Metropolis, Earth in the “not too distant future.”
There is a meeting at the United Planets at their new headquarters.
Things get rather intense at the meeting as Lex’s utopia is about to join the United Planets as a member.
This does not bode well as can be expected. Lex Luthor never does anything for anyone unless there is something in it for him.
But what can it be?
That is one of the big questions of the issue. This sets the entire plot in motion.
Lois Lane, who is now the United Planets Representative of Earth doesn’t trust Lex at all. So, she joins up with her husband, Superman, to figure out just what Lex might be up to. This is all leading to a showdown between the two foes. And it is great.
Nobody writes like Mark Russell. This book is both compelling and hilarious. There are some lines of dialogue that made me laugh out loud. The art by Steve Pugh is suitably perfect and awesome as well. This is a great start to this miniseries!
