‘Flash Forward #4’ (review)

Written by Scott Lobdell
Art by Brett Booth
Published by DC Comics

This comic book series really picked up some steam last issue!

It was just an okay read until then. Scott Lobdell is a decent writer that is doing some pretty awesome stuff on this book, finally. This is actually another fantastic issue and it is just as good as the last!

The beginning of the book has Wally in a happy place.

He is in bed and his kids are jumping all over him and Wally has everything that he could possibly want.

Then we cut to present day and Wally is getting punched in the face hard.

It looks like Wally is going up against Etrigan The Demon!  Wally is on Earth-13 and everything is pretty much going to hell! Wally quickly discovers that the world that he is on is a sort of “Horrorverse.”

He also quickly realizes that he has to get the heck out of there!

He meets a version of Linda on the planet called Lightspeed. She is a speedster of sorts as well. Together, they run away from the predicament that they find themselves in.

In one of the sweetest moments, Wally kisses her and says “Sorry, Lightspeed, in all the multiverse, there is only one woman for me.” It is a heartfelt moment that really just hits you.

The ending is one of the most horrifying endings in quite awhile. Wally finds his kids where he is. He is happy for a second. But something is coming. Something dangerous that threatens to kill them all!

This book really picked up. The writing is fantastic and the artwork fits this book perfectly. Lobdell and Booth have found their footing and this is really quite excellent. They have turned this book around into something great.

RATING: A
