‘Edgar Allan Poe’s Snifter Of Terror #4’ (review)

Written and Illustrated by Various
Published by Ahoy Comics

This is a fun little series that has some hilarious short stories by some cool creators. Although these are adapted from Poe’s stories, these tales remind me of some of the old EC Comics anthologies. They are humorous stories that always end up having some dark sort of twist by the end. And it is very enjoyable.

The opening story is called “The Black Cat”. It starts off in a veterinarian’s office with a man on a gurney. We find out that this man is a lobbyist named Michael.

We see a flashback basically of how he ended up in that gurney. We see him in his life, and doing his job. There are some nice touches by writer Bryce Ingman and artist Greg Scott.

Eventually, he gets a car as a gift that looks like KITT from Knight Rider and sounds like Nicolas Cage.
This car is more than Michael bargained for. The car seems to be alive and it starts to get him into some trouble.

The car also talks to him and start to become insidious. There is then a fire and the car may be responsible.

The rest of the story shows the car framing him and then it leads into what we started off with. It is entertaining and the art by Greg Scott deserves to be singled out.

We do get a decent text piece after this and then it leads into a story called “The Gold Bug II”. This story is written by Dean Motter and illustrated by Shawn Crystal. It is a fun story that takes place in outer space and it is pretty cool as well.

Motter writes a great story here as we see a space traveler fight against an entity that is out there. This story is short but very thrilling and I feel like this could have been a miniseries.  It has a strong ending as well.

We also get another couple of text pieces at the end. They add value to this book, which is just awesome.

Well done again, Ahoy Comics.
