Eddie Murphy has revealed in the latest Rolling Stone that his latest film, Tower Heist, was originally conceived as an all-black Ocean’s Eleven style ensemble.
Murphy had originally planned to cast Chris Rock, Chris Tucker, Martin Lawrence and Tracey Morgan as a group teaming up to rob a Donald Trump type.
Apparently Tower Heist went in a different direction, casting Ben Stiller, Matthew Broderick, and Casey Affleck, but that doesn’t mean that Murphy hasn’t abandoned his plans to unite his black pack for a different film.
According to the Rolling Stone interview, Murphy states, “I have this idea called Jamal and Tyrell and Omar and Brick and Michael’s Wack-Ass Weekend about this group of guys who get abducted by aliens on the way to the fights. I’m writing that now.”
