‘Dial H For Hero #6’ (review)

Written by Sam Humphries
Art by Joe Quinones
Published by DC Comics

This comic book has been a lot of fun. Sam Humphries has been keeping the writing light and fun and the art perfectly complements it every step of the way. I’m enjoying the different places that this creative team is taking us. It’s been inventive and just an entertaining read above all. I’m enjoying it.

The title of the book is “Anyone Can Be A Hero.”

At the beginning of the story, a bunch of people have been transformed into heroes by the Dial H device. This leads into a bunch of crazy fun. It’s great to see how many heroes they actually came up with. It’s just a bunch of goofy fun.

Miguel meanwhile is in the device and trying to discovers it’s secrets. Then, he wants to get the hell out of there.

Can Miguel get out in time? Can he regain his confidence and become the hero that he always thought he could be?

Well, the answer is yes and it happens in one hell of a moment.

Miguel is infused by the Dial H device with power to become “Supermiguel.” It’s a fun and an actual powerful moment in the story. The result almost feels cathartic when it happens. The creative team really nails that moment perfectly.

We get to see Supermiguel save the day and put everything back in order. Things are looking up. But there are evil-doers lurking in the shadows. And those bad guys are starting to get organized. Things are really picking up.

I love this issue. It moves fast and it has a lot of great storytelling moments as well as some great nods (the nod to Daniel Clowes made me smile the most). All in all, this is another great issue by a fabulous creative team. Where it goes from here is anyone’s guess, but I’ll be reading it. It’s a nice book that truly grabs you.

RATING: A-
