‘Crime Syndicate #4’ (review)

Written by Andy Schmidt
Art by Kieran McKeown, Bryan Hitch
Published by DC Comics

This take on the Crime Syndicate is pretty darn unique. I am loving the ideas put forth in this book and where the various characters are coming from. It is an interesting take and I love that it is unlike anything else DC is doing right now.

We start off this issue with the Crime Syndicate having saved the world.

How did this happen?

The invading Starro creatures were put in their place and the Syndicate is seen as a bunch of saviors.

We all know that this is the absolute furthest thing from the truth .

But they run with it.

And that decision may prove to be their undoing. Temptation is everywhere! It may only be a matter of time before one of them does something completely stupid to change all of this and revert back to their old ways.

Sure enough, they can’t keep it together. And of course, things fall apart.

Will any of them join the Legion of Justice? The creative team handles this story with grace and fun. It is well done and they make it something memorable.

The backup story here is drawn by Bryan Hitch. It is the origin of the Emerald Knight. I enjoyed it very much and it is a good take on this character.

Overall, this is a solid issue from start to finish. It is an unexpectedly enjoyable read.

RATING: B+
