This book is quite interesting.
I always enjoy anything from the Young Animal line of books. This is definitely one of the more weird ones that they have published, but it’s a fun time nonetheless. I’m enjoying it very much and I love the strange directions this creative team has been taking us.
The book begins with our hero Liam hearing voices. The voices tell him that he has gotten himself killed and pretty much scold him horrendously. He then tries to go through a surreal landscape trying to dig himself out of trouble. It gets downright weird but is extremely and strangely intriguing.
Where the heck is he? And just how does he get out of this nightmarish realm? We find out the plan.
And let me tell you: Things only get more fun from here! And even more and more strange.
Liam encounters a tour bus. The tour bus eventually get sucked up into the black hole that is in his chest.
Yes, it sounds crazy. But that’s part of the fun of this crazy comic book. Liam then travels through many different dimensions. He travels through many different crazy and obtuse worlds. The whole thing is awesomely illustrated by the artist. It does get to be a little bit much at times but the strong characterization and the outright strange visuals work. I was having a great time reading this.
Liam then gets the sense that he’s being followed. It leads to some strange encounters and some battle scenes that are just bonkers. It even get a little bloody and graphic sometimes. By the end of the book we are left at an even nuttier place. It looks like the whole story may be leaning towards the apocalypse and that it may be up to Liam to stop it.
The question becomes, can Liam do it?
The story is one of the weirdest I’ve seen in quite some time. I’m fine with that though. The creative team seems to have it all together though and it shows. This may be a quirky title but it really does involve the reader. I’m looking forward to reading some more of this book when the next chapters come out.
