With every major storyline these days, it feels like there are a bunch of spinoff books.
I am okay with that for the most part, especially when they are as well handled as this one is. This one-shot has a bevy of talent in it, and it also shows some things that are to come.
My favorite story in this is the Clownhunter storyline by writer James Tynion IV and illustrated by James Stokoe. It is just awesome. I have to say I enjoyed this very much. Watching Clownhunter fight for love was great. Stokoe can do no wrong and his art is beautifully realized here. Even if the story is a bit pedestrian, the art is crazy good and makes the whole thing work amazingly.
We also get a pretty nice Poison Ivy story by writer Sam Johns and artist Laura Braga. In it, Ivy heads back to Gotham to see what is going on. She sees that the city has been decimated by the Joker and his gang. Ivy then has to figure out what her place is in the grand scheme of things.
The story is pretty great and the art by Braga is fantastic. She has developed as an artist and it shows here.
There is a story about Cassandra Cain and the Spoiler in here that is pretty fun. The story on that one is by Joshua Williamson and it is drawn by David Lafuente.
There is also a Joker story where he meets up with Bane. It is okay but not the greatest. It goes by quickly enough though.
There is a great preview of what is to come.
Writer John Ridley and artist Olivier Copiel show us the Luke Fox Batman. I have to say I am quite excited about this. This looks like a quality forthcoming storyline. I am glad this book came out.
DC does a great job making books like these. I enjoyed this very much.
