Nick Derington’s artwork is worth the cover price all by itself. His work is expressive and unlike any comic art out there.
Luckily, the story by Joshua Williamson is pretty damn great as well. This is a good comic book series and this issue definitely shines.
We get to see a young Zod with his father at the beginning of the issue. This flashback gives the story a little depth.
That is when we flash forward to the present day to see that Zod is now trying to resurrect the city of Kandor. He is dead set on this goal.
Of course, Batman and Superman are trying to stop him. A big fight ensues. The dynamic duo do everything they can to try and stop Zod.
And that is pretty much what this issue turns out to be: A really big knockdown fight.
It is drawn by Derington which makes it all extra special. Derington does an astonishing job keeping the fight fresh and exciting. That is when Zod is ready to fulfill his plan. Superman tries to talk sense to him. And that is when something incredibly tragic happens.
Ra’s al Ghul makes his presence known by the end of the book. The whole thing wraps up very well. This is a well made comic and I am enjoying it very much.
Also, please DC put Derington on as many comics as he can handle?
