This is a better than average team up book than the usual fare.
Writer Joshua Williamson writes a comic that gives a real purpose as to why these two characters would be teaming up. It doesn’t feel arbitrary at all and it is actually a well done comic book for the most part.
The Ultra-Humanite has made Batman into an evil killing machine.
The first person on Batman’s list to kill is none other than Superman. We get to see Batman in action at the beginning of the issue and Superman is trying to stop him. Batman then blasts Superman with some sort of laser from his hands.
I was addicted to this issue at that point.
Batman and Superman face off. Superman tries to help Batman get himself under control. They tussle. Superman eventually gets the upper hand and knocks Batman out. This delights the Ultra-Humanite to no end.
That is when Superman turns his attention to the villain.
Superman and the Ultra-Humanite fight. Superman essentially beats the hell out of him. Then, Clark gets to work on helping his friend, Bruce.
It all wraps up in a standard way but I didn’t mind. Getting to the end was a lot of fun.
Clayton Henry does a bang up job on the art. His art is fluid and flashy enough but not at the expense of good storytelling.
All in all, this is a solid book. It is a team up book that is done right, and that is a good thing for sure.
