‘Batman Beyond #34’ (review)

Written by Dan Jurgens
Art by Rick Leonardi
Published by DC Comics

The creative team of Dan Jurgens and Rick Leonardi may in fact be the best team to ever work on this comic book.

They give us fast and action packed stories along with some incredible characters. This is how I enjoy the Batman Beyond universe. These gentlemen certainly know what it is that they are doing.

Something is going on with Terry McGinnis.

He’s acting as crazy as Bruce Wayne was last issue! When we first see him, he is seeking havoc carelessly through the city!

What is going on with him? Has he lost his mind?

Well, it seems like the villain False Face has taken over this persona. And this is not a good thing at all.

He breaks up a kidnapping and it’s absolutely brutal to watch. He then goes about his way.

The real Terry sees this happen. But he can’t do anything about it. Mostly because, he can’t remember who he is. Leave it to Jurgens to make the story have many layers.

This “Batman” goes home and immediately Bruce knows something is up.

He and the False Face Terry get into an argument. But there is a mission that must be done. So the Batman goes out into the field. And he acts so suspicious that Bruce figures it out. There is also a story about what the real Terry is doing. It’s a high energy cliffhanger that the creative team leaves us off on.

The story is pretty great and the artwork by Leonardi is just tops. He’s my favorite artist that has ever been on this title. This has been great and I can’t wait to see where he and Jurgens take us next. I know it’ll be someplace great.

RATING: A-
