What a difference a creative team makes. This comic has completely turned around to be one of the better comic books on the stands. I’m loving the direction that they are taking us and its been a fantastic ride thus far!
We start off with one hell of an action sequence! The new Oracle is all powered up and ticked off thanks to Lex Luthor!
They are attacking Batgirl with a hell of a lot of anger! Batgirl is taking a beat down! Just how is she going to get out of this? Things look completely hopeless!
Luckily, Batgirl is rich with friends. Batman shows up with his gang and they thankfully lend an assist here! They help her escape the Oracle’s clutches.
But Barbara has a lot more on her mind than just your average slugfest.
And so does Castellucci, it seems.
Oracle is a major part of Barbara. It was a part of her longer than she realized. Castellucci goes a bit deeper than most Batgirl comics have gone recently and it really is quite a thrill. She keeps things moving but there is also a lot of thought behind everything.
By the end of the issue, Oracle is an even bigger villain than it was before. The threat level has grown exponentially here. It’s a nice cliffhanger that we are left with and it whets your appetite for more. That is a very good thing indeed.
The art is pretty good, too. It moves the story at a lightning pace yet keeps you grounded as a reader. I think that this book will get even better in time to be a top tier title. I love the Batgirl character and it is nice to see that there is a lot of love and care that the character is receiving from the creative team here.
