‘Bang! #5’ (review)

Written by Matt Kindt
Art by Wilfredo Torres
Published by Dark Horse Comics

This awesome series is coming to an end with this issue, at least for the time being.

Matt Kindt has written a hell of a good book here and it has been a really exciting comic overall. He has had a great partner with Wilfredo Torres as well and this book just really worked.

We get to see Thomas Cord at the beginning of the issue talking about how he wanted to be a writer. We get to see him and the events in his life leading up to the present day. The present day involves him getting a team together of people like him for a mission.

It is really cool and we finally see what that mission is.

Cord’s team springs into action.

There is a James Bond feel to the team he has assembled, except that they all seemingly have problems.  No matter.

They go off to a snowy landscape to try and save the world. But they might actually have their work cut out for them.

Their enemy Goldmaize is a real piece of work. He is hellbent on killing everyone. This all leads to one of a hell conclusion that I just did not see coming.

Seriously, this is really great and Kindt really nails the script in this issue.

Wilfredo Torres is probably one of the most underrated artists in the business right now. His art is quite spectacular here and is his best work.

This is a great series. I can’t wait to read it all again to see how the whole thing reads in one sitting.
