Film Threat founder Chris Gore has made a documentary about G4TV and Attack of the Show. I know a lot of people wondered what happened to them. I used to see them very often when I went around to different comic conventions (they had a VERY big presence at SDCC).

They were a broadcast specifically made for nerd culture.

But what happened to them?

This documentary delves into all of that.

If you ever wanted to learn about how Attack of the Show came into being, this documentary is for you.

Ostensibly, the show was designed for target audiences and they delivered to those target audiences well.

Gore does a great job of reminding you immediately how fun it was to watch G4TV (as well as participate as he was an on camera contributor). It was like eating candy. You’d watch it until it made you sick.

It was fun, informative, but still empty entertainment that you weren’t getting anywhere else.

Attack of the Show was hosted by Olivia Munn and Kevin Pereira.

They were both so immersed into geek culture that they became household names. It’s really fun watching the rise of this network and the people. It is fun to watch and reminisce how a lot of the on screen talent rose to bigger things. We see a lot of interviews and first hand accounts of all these events, as well as interviews from famous viewers.

In 2012, G4TV canceled Attack of the Show as well as X-Play. This all led to the demise of the network in 2014. This documentary delved into why that happened. It also shows us a perspective of things that we normally wouldn’t get otherwise.

This is a very enjoyable, if a bit slight, documentary. There are a lot of unexpected guest stars and celebrities that make the whole thing worth your time. It reminds you of a time that has now passed and why it was such a good time.

Well done overall.
