This has been a fairly entertaining series from the very first issue.
This particular issue is a “season finale” of sorts. I can easily see this comic continuing beyond this series as this book has a lot of story behind it and a lot of the world building is already in place for the most part.
At the beginning of the issue, Lottie is planning her attack against the evil forces. There is a lot a banter between her and Peruvia. It is enjoyable for the most part but I did want to get to the action as it did drag on.
Luckily, once the action starts it does not let up!
Lottie gets ready to show that she is indeed the “chosen one.” All the preparation has led to this point.
Peruvia is ready to back her up, but this is Lottie’s moment for sure.
She steps up to the plate and finally gets her chance.
The great thing about this “ending” is that enough is resolved to be completely satisfying. Yet, there is enough that they leave open that makes it worthwhile to read another series with these characters if it comes out. I love the characters and the “bad guys” are really a legitimate and well developed threat.
The writing by Mariah Mccourt is strong. She really has a knack for developing strong characters. The art by Soo Lee is perfectly suited for this series as well.
All in all, this is a fine, underrated gem of a series which was nicely done.
