Man, the Green Lantern book is just a bit of a mess now. The stories are less than thrilling and there aren’t many compelling characters. The whole thing just feels lost in space. I was hoping that this annual would be a bit better.
It is a bit, but not enough to make a difference.
This issue focuses on Jessica Cruz. It shows her growth from the person that she used to be. It shows her overcoming things to become a Green Lantern of a certain merit.
We get to see Jessica and a lot of the troubles that she faced. We also get to see the fears that she faced. All of it led up to Jessica disappearing into the power battery.
We get to see what happened to her after that.
Basically, the universe has changed for her. And not in many good ways. Jessica finds a way into the sights of Sinestro. He wants her to join his corps.
Will she make the decision to do so? Or will she stand her ground as a Green Lantern.
Ryan Cady does an okay job on the script. It is serviceable with a few nice scenes. The art by Sami Basri is actually very good. Basri should be on a regular series as the art is very accomplished.
All in all, the issue is just okay.
