‘The Scumbag #9’ (review)

Written by Rick Remender
Art by Jonathan Wayshak
Published by Image Comics

This irreverent book continues it’s madcap run of insanity.

Rick Remender writes one hell of a fun story here and it is complete craziness month in and month out. I love what he is doing with this title and the whole things works in a really interesting way.

This book continues the Moonflower storyline.

Ernie has betrayed his colleagues and has joined the Moonflower cult.

Then, he betrayed the Moonflower cult to help out his former colleagues. He does a few more double crosses and betrayals just for good measure.

In fact, Ernie has betrayed so many people that he doesn’t know which way is up anymore.

We get to see a bit of his confusion at the beginning of this issue and it is pretty hysterical. We also get to see that he is in a lot of trouble with a lot of different people and groups.

Ernie doesn’t know who’s side he is actually on. That is not so good. The Sunflower cult and the Scorpionus groups each get ready to make their plans solidified.

That is also not so good.

One wants to control how we look and the other one wants to control how we think.

Ernie has to make the right choice. If only he could figure out what that is. The script is great and hilarious and the art is pretty decent as well.

This book is nuts, but I can’t help but love every single page. It is a good time.

RATING: A
