‘Compass #2’ (review)

Written by Dave Walker and Robert Mackenzie

I really enjoyed the first issue of this series.

It went to a few places that not many comic books go to. While this is generally a kind of comic book that isn’t my cup of tea, I did like the story enough and the direction that the creative team took it all in.

Our main character here, Shahidah, has already been put through a lot.

She had been been marked for death. She has been chased across continents. And she has been betrayed by her sisters and the ones closest to her.

We get to see her reeling from all of these occurrences.

She is also on a mission that might change everything.

Shahidah is closing in on getting to the Cauldron of Eternal Life. Margul Khan rallies his forces in the meantime to try and take her down. There is a lot going on and it all gets a bit crazy to be honest.

But it is all well handled enough. Margul Khan wants the Cauldron of Eternal life so he can use it to end the world as we know it! By the end of the issue, things look pretty bad. Can Shahidah possibly turn it all around?

The story is pretty good. It does get a bit too crazy at times but the characters are very good. The art by Justin Greenwood is the best part. Overall, I liked this book and I am interested to see where it is really headed.

RATING: B
