‘Beta Ray Bill #4’ (review)

Written and Illustrated by Daniel Warren Johnson
Published by Marvel Comics

This has been the best things that Marvel Comics has put out this year.

I love the work of Daniel Warren Johnson and here, he takes a character that hasn’t been around much lately and he does something amazing with him.

The crew that Beta Ray Bill has gathered have made their way to Muspelheim!

That’s right, Skurge the Executioner, Pip the Troll and Bill himself have made it there.

They are ready to fight the fiery pits of Muspelheim and are all quickly attacked by all sorts of demons and dark beings.

A fight happens between them all.

Johnson really knows how to stage fight scenes and this is pretty great to witness. He really struts his stuff here.

Beta Ray Bill must confront a bunch of his old memories here.

He has to wade through them and fight through them. It is an incredible sequence of events. By the end, we see the conclusion of the book forming as the stage is completely set.

Daniel Warren Johnson is a unique talent. The story and artwork are both great here. I love the pacing, the storytelling, the artwork.

Let’s have more comic books out there like this. It’s great.
