‘Action Comics #1033’ (review)

Written by Phillip Kennedy Johnson,
Becky Cloonan and Michael W. Conrad
Art by Daniel Sampere, Mike Avon Oeming
Published by DC Comics

This is some really great stuff.

Phillip Kennedy Johnson has taken the Superman line of books and given them an injection of pure energy that has been sorely missing in the line for quite some time. I love what he is doing and each issue is a nice treat.

In this issue, we get to see that Atlantis is under attack!

Aquaman has taken in the Warworld refugees and that means that the rest of the planet isn’t very happy. It also means that it is all out war happening and we get to see some of the results of that!

Superman has to make some decisions here. He may have to take some power into his hands for the greater good. We get to see him grapple with that a bit.

There is some really great character development in these scenes.

From there, we get to see that some of the denizens of Warworld have made it to the Fortress of Solitude. We get to see that they have also found Lois Lane. This main storyline really is a thrill a minute and it is truly great.

The backup story is written by Becky Cloonan and Michael W. Conrad with art by Mike Avon Oeming.

Midnighter has gone gone deep into the Trojan Complex and has found an unexpected guest. What is he to do! It gets truly awesome and it has a heck of an ending too! Well done!
