When you have two top tier creators working on a title, you just have to pay attention.
When it is writer Garth Ennis and artist Liam Sharp creating a book together, you definitely have to read it. Both are great individually, but together they make some real magic.
At the beginning of the book, it seems like Batman is no longer the most terrifying entity in Gotham City. There is something that is making everyone much more scared than normal.
But what is this being who is making everyone crazy with fear?
We get the usual scenes of criminals doing some unsavory things. Their plans are completely thwarted by the Batman.
We get to see him dispatching the villains with his usual expertise. Then, he goes about his usual business heading into the night!
But things are anything but usual.
There is a bigger threat looming it seems. We start to see that threat come into the bigger picture. That threat is the title character who get get more than a glimpse of. Batman may just be in for the fight of his life.
The story by Ennis is well done. We get to see his style with his usual twisted bits of humor shine through. The art by Sharp is really great as well. Sharp is at the top of his game and this is pretty great.
Overall, I liked this and can’t wait to see what is in store for us.
