Every so often, you just read a first issue of a comic book and know that it is going to be cancelled.
Sometimes, you even give it a second chance, knowing that you are most likely going to be burned. Such is the case with this comic book here.
The first issue was pretty bad but this? Well, it might be even worse.
I don’t care about any of the characters. That’s a hard thing to get past. I am not just talking about the new characters.
Those are pretty shoddily developed. No, I even mean the classic characters like Nightwing. They are all written pretty badly here.
The new Teen Titans in this book have a bunch of questions about their present circumstances. We get to see them ask why the school is the way that it is. Their teachers don’t seem to be too forthcoming with their answers. There are all sorts of problems that start forming.
Billy Batson is having trouble with his powers. He seems to be out of control with them.
Meanwhile, the student named Dane seems to be hiding something from his teachers as well as his pupils. And someone is pretending to be the new Red X. These are the plots that the book is putting forth.
There is literally no reason to care about any of it.
The script is hard to access on any level and most of the suspense barely amounts to a yawn. The art is good but cannot save this book. Basically, it is close to unreadable and there is nothing besides the artwork that it has going for it.
