‘Nightwing #79’ (review)

Written by Tom Taylor
Art by Bruce Redondo
Published by DC Comics

This new creative team has reinvigorated the Nightwing title. They have taken the character in a completely different direction than before.

The best part of it all is that it feels completely fresh and like something that I haven’t seen with this character before this.

It seems like Dick Grayson has inherited Alfred Pennyworth’s fortune.

He has also inherited a lot of questions because of it.

Why has this happened? What is he going to do with the money? How will this affect his future in fighting crime?

There is also the new mayor of Bludhaven named Mayor Zucco.

Of course, the Zucco name does have ties to Dick’s past. What does her being here mean? We start to see some of that mystery unfold.

Nightwing also comes up against a villain in this issue with leaves him with a lot to contend with. He is feeling a bit overwhelmed and who can blame him. That is when he decides to reach out to a couple of friends to help him get things straightened out.

But things may actually be harder than he thought.

The story is pretty great. Tom Taylor writes an interesting script and it is very well done. The art by Bruce Redondo is very good as well. It fits the story perfectly and it is nicely executed.

Overall, it is a nice little comic book, and I am loving that the creative team has an actual thought out direction they are working towards with this book.

RATING: B+
