‘The Scumbag #6’ (review)

Written by Rick Remender
Art by Bengal
Published by Image Comics

The first story arc of this series was pretty damn entertaining.

We were introduced to Ernie, who is the Scumbag in the title. He got up to some really crazy adventures and got himself into some real trouble. He also obtained some amazing new powers.

Ernie also did perform some selfless heroism at the end of the last issue. That is where we pick up the story as this issue begins.

We get to see Ernie with the organization that he is involved with exploring some new territory. With that new territory, there comes a new mission.

Apparently, there is a group of devil hippies that call themselves Moonflower.

They are becoming a growing threat and we get to see them In their element. It seems like this issue is designed to have Ernie and the Moonflower group meet.

At first, Ernie doesn’t care or seem to want to help.

Yet, a hot cult escapee helps Ernie see the light and convinces him to use his powers to help.

There is then a journey that occurs that has to seen to be believed. It is very much interesting as well as laugh out loud funny.

The script by writer Rick Remender is great. It is never too serious and never too light. Remender knows how to strike the perfect balance with this book with his writing. The art by Bengal is very good as well, and it makes the whole book a worthwhile package.

RATING: A
