I found the first issue of this book to be extremely lame.
So, it was with a bit of trepidation that I jumped back into the story with this second issue.
I mean, how much worse could it get?
It seemed to me like the creative team was purposely trying to answer that question for me.
In the last issue, Dr. Kirk Langstrom (Man-Bat) found himself in a bunch of trouble. Now, the law is after him and he is trying to get away from them.
We get to see Kirk trying to figure out why things are happening the way they are. But the police may not the only thing that he has to worry about.
Task Force X has been contracted to take him down.
That’s right, Man-Bat is going up against the Suicide Squad! We get to see them trying to hunt Man-Bat down and they are certainly out for blood.
Meanwhile, Kirk is trying to make good on things. He injured and caused harm to various innocent people. So now, he is trying to find a cure for them. Can he succeed? Or are things just going to get worse from here? We find out some answers quickly.
I am not a fan of the writing or the art. The book comes off looking entirely too silly for me and more than a little cartoonish. The writing and the art don’t blend very well either and the whole thing feels disjointed.
I wish this comic had something more going for it. Sadly, it does not.
