This has been a very good limited series.
The writing and the artwork have both been top notch. The two creators have come up with one hell of a world where it is against the law not to be happy.
They take this concept and they run away with it to a place that I couldn’t have imagined.
This is the penultimate issue of the series so a lot has been set up for the ending of this book.
Our two lead characters, Kim and Jerry, have spent the last few issues trying to get to a group that is a revolutionary pro-misery cell. They have finally made it to them and have decided to join up!
This backfires on them. I mean, what did they expect?
They joined a group that promotes misery!
The two of them find out about the inner workings of this cell. It is much more horrible than they could have imagined. It is there that they find out what their first challenge from the cell.
Kim and Jerry have to confront some Joysuckers. This proves to be a harder task than they initially thought it might be. The Joysuckers are ruthless and the two of them are pretty unprepared. The rest of this issue springs off this scene and sets up the ending for this book.
Writer Peter Milligan is doing some excellent writing work here. It is smart, funny, and pointed. The artwork by Michael Montenat is pretty damn great as well and it shows us this story perfectly.
This comic has one more issue to go and I can’t wait to see where the two of these creators take us!
