‘Future State: Nightwing #2’ (review)

Written by Andrew Constant
Art by Nicola Scott
Published by DC Comics

Man, I just loved this take on the character of Nightwing so much.

This has been one of my favorite Future State books as it takes chances and is incredibly entertaining. I hope some of this creativity bleeds over into the regular series after Future State ends.

The previous issue showed us a pretty different take on Nightwing. He is battered and bruised and looked like he was put through the ringer.

Hell, his headquarters is currently at Arkham Asylum.

This issue picks up where we left off last time and shows us Nightwing having to face off against the Magistrate.

Luckily, he gets some unexpected help.

The Next Batman shows up to fight the Magistrate and they team up! This is a great moment, and it is really damn exciting to see these two characters together. Sadly, the Magistrate may prove to be even tougher than they both thought!

This leads to an awesome fight. The two boys have to even call in some backup!

It still may not be enough to turn the tide. I love the way the creative team ended this. The whole series is definitely well thought out from start to finish.

Writer Andrew Constant writes a great script here. It is full of verve and intelligence and works quite well. Artist Nicola Scott does a great job here on the art as well. The images are cool and the action is clear. I would love to see more from this creative team in the future.

RATING: A
